Some roofing jobs are straightforward. Others reveal years of hidden damage once the old materials are removed.
On this project, after tearing off the old shingles and ice guard, we discovered significant issues with the existing plank decking underneath. Several areas had deteriorated wood and gaps that needed to be carefully repaired and reinforced before new roofing materials could be installed.
The crew patched damaged sections, strengthened the structure, and then installed new plywood over the existing plank decking to create a smooth, solid surface for the new roofing system. Taking these extra steps helps ensure the roof is sturdy, level, and built to last.
These are the kinds of details homeowners never see from the ground — but they make all the difference in the longevity and performance of a roof.
And yes… sometimes getting the job done thoroughly means squeezing into some incredibly tight and awkward spaces along the way 😂
At the end of the day, we’d rather take the extra time to fix problems properly than simply cover them up.
